CENTRE SPORTS
RALLY
The committee have taken over the running of the Sports Rally at
Carlton Rugby Club this year. The clubhouse has been booked for a
social on Saturday and there will be a full programme of sports
including the now famous Go - Kart races as staged by Chris and
Dave. All we need now is plenty of bookings and children to make
this rally a success. As the rally will proceed the Joint Yorkshire
Sports rally by one week, it will make an ideal opportunity for us
to practice. There will be no official Quoits and Lawn darts
competitions at this rally. PLEASE BOOK early to help us with the
running of this event. See your Handbook for booking contacts
NEW TRAILER
The centre
has a new trailer following the request by members at the AGM. More
details to follow from the Quartermaster and his assistant.
Please support the Joint Yorkshire Sports Rally this year as Pennine
are the host Centre. Please see your Handbook for details and book
early to help us plan this event.
2008 Rally Handbooks are in circulation and if you ARE REGISTERED
with the Centre you should get one before Christmas. Thanks to Dave
Smith for running backwards and forwards to the printers and our new
Chairman "Ferdie" for taking on the bulk of the work circulating the
Handbook during this my baptism as Hon Sec.
Unfortunately, due to re grassing of the outfield next Autumn,
Kirkburton CC will not be available for rallies. Children in Need
will be at another venue providing we can find one. It is hoped
this can be held at a venue where we can have a 'proper' social.
Watch this space and the Newsletter for details. |

What is a Caravan Rally ?
Have you been to a
caravan rally yet?
The Yorkshire Pennine Centre would be pleased to welcome you to any of
the rallies listed on this website or listed in the Yorkshire Pennine
Rally Handbook.
Interested?
Well why not come and give it a try, you do not need to be a member of
the Yorkshire Pennine Centre, however you do need to be a member of
the Caravan Club.
Find the rally in the handbook or on the rally programme page,
complete a rally slip and send it to the Rally Marshal or contact the
Rally Secretary who will give you the contact details of the Rally
Marshal. You then need do nothing else until the day of the rally.
Following the directions in the rally handbook or the directions given
by the Rally Marshall, make your way to the venue. As you get near the
venue, watch out for the special YPC signs (Yellow background with red
lettering) they will direct you to the entrance of the Rally field.
|
What Happens Next?
When you arrive, Stop at the rally marshals caravan, this is usually
near the entrance and is clearly marked with a marshal sign outside.
Here you will be welcomed and given general information, such as where
the water tap is etc. You will also be given an envelope which
contains details of the weekends events, including times of the
opening and closing 'Flags'. These events are simply an opportunity to
meet your fellow ralliers, welcome visitors from other centres and new
members. At the closing Flag, the results of any competitions are
announced along with forthcoming events and rallies. The marshal will
be formally thanked for their efforts in organising the weekend. by a
member of the Yorkshire Pennine committee.

Is there anything else you need to know before attending a Rally?
You will need your own toilet facilities, there will be a chemical
toilet disposal point, Elsan. Electric hook up is not usually
available so make sure your batteries are fully charged and you have
enough gas to last the weekend. At some venues you may find your pitch
is slightly sloping so always carry a levelling ramp and some blocks.
On most weekend rallies be prepared to take dry waste home with you,
please use your local home facilities to recycle your bottles, cans,
plastic and paper. The Rally fee is usually paid to the Marshal
on arrival at the rally, except for holiday rallies, these are usually
paid in advance.
On your first rally you may not know any of our members but we hope
that our welcome and friendship will make you want to come and rally
with us again. Why not give it a try, come and join us as we rally for
pleasure and aim to share many enjoyable times. |
